Why choose a professional photographer?

I think it’s safe to say that most of us are guilty of having hundreds of images trapped on our phones. It is so important to invest in professional images of your family as those are the ones that will be printed and passed down for generations to come. A professional photographer knows how to capture you at your best and will work with you on all of the details leading up to photo day.

Many of my clients confess to putting off photos for months/years as they don’t feel like they are ready to be in front of the camera, but the truth is that years from now you will cherish these moments and so will your kids. Right now is the perfect time to make sure you have beautiful images of your family!

How would you describe your style?

My goal is always to capture people as naturally as possible. I like to make the session fun, comfortable and personal.  As we wander around, I will chat away and see what makes you light up….all the while, snapping photos that you are seriously going to love;) I am first drawn to beautiful light and scenery. Once I have you in a good spot, we can laugh, play and work on creating images that will reflect the personalities of your favourite bunch of people.

How long does it take?

Once you book your session, we will work out the perfect date….and if Mother Nature throws a wrench in our plans, we can pick the second perfect date. A lifestyle family session takes approximately 1.5 hours and a newborn session can take anywhere up to 3.5 hours.

You will receive an online gallery of your edited images approximately 2-3 weeks after your session date.

Do I receive the high resolution images?

Yes! With the online gallery, you will be given a download pin so that you can save, share and print your images as you please. However, I do highly recommend investing in professional prints of your favourite images. We can do gallery canvases or a beautiful custom coffee table book to show off the highlights of the session. Please inquire for more info on pricing:)

Do you edit your images?

All of my images are professionally edited for colour and minor touch ups and are print ready. If you require more extensive editing, an extra fee per image may be required.

How did you get started?

I took a high school photography class when I was 14 and fell in love with the camera, the darkroom and everything in between. I realized very early on that I loved photographing people and capturing emotion and love. When it came time for post secondary education, I went to Humber College to study photography and interned with a few different photographers to gain some experience. In the past 10 years, I have photographed approximately 300 weddings almost as many portrait sessions.

After my own wedding, a light bulb went on and I felt as though I had gained such insight into the kind of images that would be cherished long after the wedding day. My approach at a wedding is to document the moments that I hold dear from my own big day and provide beautiful heirlooms for my clients. The same can definitely be said about my portrait work. I became a Mother 6 years ago and realized what it was to watch your heart walk around outside your body. I feel absolutely honoured to capture special moments between my clients and their children. Can you tell that I love my job?

Where will the session take place?

This is the fun part. If you have a special spot you like to spend time with your family (park, cottage, ice cream shop) let’s meet there! Or if you are drawn to certain architecture, green space or a specific neighbourhood, we can work together to come up with the perfect spot.

If you are planning for a newborn session, these almost always take place in your home. This is the ideal setting to capture true moments with your new bundle. We can include siblings, pets and any special elements of the home and nursery so that you remember just what it was like to be home with your new baby.

Seasons also come into play here in Ontario….if you would like to schedule a shoot in the winter months but aren’t so sure you are up for a snowball fight, let me come to your home where we can plan a special afternoon of baking, crafting, or playing games and I will capture your family in a candid and fun way.

Do you travel for sessions?

Absolutely. Most of my clients live in the GTA, but if you have an idea that requires some travel, we can work out a reasonable travel fee. My portrait sessions have brought me up north to cottage country and all the way to New York City!
